Does God Like Me?

What does God think about when He looks at you?  What is His emotional response when He sees you?  Do you think if God had an extra hour in His day, would He want to spend it with you?

We might believe that God loves us, 
but deep down we wonder if God likes us.

These questions and others like it all center around our identity.  If we stop and ponder these questions, we will quickly discover a God who wants to be with us.

Step 1: Enter Into Joy
Pray: "Jesus, would you remind me of a completely joy-filled memory? Or show me a peaceful joy-filled place?"
Journal: What do I see?
  • What do I hear?
  • What do I smell?
  • What do I taste?
  • What do I feel around me?
  • What am I thinking about in this moment or place?
  • Where in my body am I experiencing joy?

Step 2: Invite Jesus to Join
Pray: "Jesus, I welcome you to be with me in this memory. Please help me to perceive your living, interactive presence."
Journal: (Notice whatever comes into your awareness. And let go of expectations for how you expect or how you want Jesus to show up.)
  • Where do you see or sense Jesus's presence in this memory?
  • How does it feel to be with Jesus in this memory?
  • If you can see His face, what expression do you see?
  • What else do you see, feel, sense about His presence?

Step 3: Interact with Jesus
Pray: "Jesus, help me to see my situation through Your eyes."
Journal: (Write from Jesus's perspective what He observes in you right now.)
  • I can see you . . .
  • I can hear you . . .
  • I understand how big this is for you . . .
  • I am glad to be with you . . .
  • I can do something about what you are going through . . .
